I wish I could say fairytale of NY by the Pogues but it barely qualifies as a christmas song. In reality though my favorite is The Mariah Carey song from last year that sounds like bizarre love triangle.

I agree, the Mariah Carey song is my favorite.. actually it's the only Christmas song that I like.

I love dreidel "dreidel dreidel I made it out of clay" and "Hanukkah, Hanukkah, Festival of Lights". I am not Jewish, but come the holidays those songs are always stuck in my head....actually they are year round. For Christmas I like "Rockin around the Christmas tree." It always gets my blood pumpin'.

Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas is You"...is that the song you're talking about? Because, yeah, I think it's awesome and I don't care who knows.

I can't STAND "All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth".

Blech.

I like a lot of off-beat, jazzy, Christmas songs from the 40s. I like Baby It's Cold Outside because the lyrics make me laugh. You know she wants it. However, I don't like all the renditions of the song. The holiday tradition I hate the most is Kwanzaa. I vehemently hate it. I cannot even begin to describe my contempt for it.

I'm partial to Elvis' "Blue Christmas" and Charro's "Feliz Navidad". I especially loved it when Charro sang "Feliz Navidad" on PeeWee's Christmas Special.

As a kid, my favorite was definitely "Little Drummer Boy". These day's, I'm pretty sure it's U2's rendition of "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)".

I too am in the Mariah camp however I am going with Let It Snow as my favorite.

Band-aid's Do they know it's Christmas makes me grind my teeth. I'm pretty sure that they are singing about impoverished non-chrisitans, so no, I don't think that they know or care that it is Christmas time at all.
I did just see that Michael Bolton has a Holiday single of the week on Itunes so that is most likely the worst.

My favorite Xmas song is:
(close second is "Little St. Nick" by the Beach Boys)
DOMINICK THE DONKEY (THE ITALIAN CHRISTMAS DONKEY)
Lou Monte - 1967

Hey! Chingedy ching,
(hee-haw, hee-haw)
It's Dominick the donkey.
Chingedy ching,
(hee-haw, hee-haw)
The Italian Christmas donkey.
(la la la-la la-la la la la la)
(la la la-la la-la la-ee-oh-da)

Santa's got a little friend,
His name is Dominick.
The cutest little donkey,
You never see him kick.
When Santa visits his paisons,
With Dominick he'll be.
Because the reindeer cannot,
Climb the hills of Italy.

Hey! Chingedy ching,
(hee-haw, hee-haw)
It's Dominick the donkey.
Chingedy ching,
(hee-haw, hee-haw)
The Italian Christmas donkey.
(la la la-la la-la la la la la)
(la la la-la la-la la-ee-oh-da)

Jingle bells around his feet,
And presents on the sled.
Hey! Look at the mayor's derby,
On top of Dominick's head.
A pair of shoes for Louie,
And a dress for Josephine.
The labels on the inside says,
They're made in Brooklyn.

Hey! Chingedy ching,
(hee-haw, hee-haw)
It's Dominick the donkey.
Chingedy ching,
(hee-haw, hee-haw)
The Italian Christmas donkey.
(la la la-la la-la la la la la)
(la la la-la la-la la-ee-oh-da)

Children sing, and clap their hands,
And Dominick starts to dance.
They talk Italian to him,
And he even understands.

Cumpare sing,
Cumpare su,
And dance 'sta tarantel.
When jusamagora comes to town,
And brings du ciuccianello.

Hey! Chingedy ching,
(hee-haw, hee-haw)
It's Dominick the donkey.
Chingedy ching,
(hee-haw, hee-haw)
The Italian Christmas donkey.
(la la la-la la-la la la la la)
(la la la-la la-la la-ee-oh-da)

Hey! Dominick! Buon Natale!
(hee-haw, hee-haw)
(hee-haw, hee-haw)
(hee-haw, hee-haw)
(hee-haw, hee-haw)
(hee-haw, hee-haw)
(hee-haw, hee-haw)

OMGoodness, Pete g!
Dominick the Italian Christmas Donkey is my favorite too!

However, I probably wouldn't have bothered to paste all the fricking lyrics.

OH! I totally forgot The Waitresses "Merry Christmas" thats is the BEST Christmas song ever.

Last year I was enamored with White Christmas as done by Rosemary Clooney because she starts out by bitching about LA being too hot, which was very relative for me at the time. This year I'm loving Bing with his I'll be Home for Christmas and Chris Isaak doing Blue Christmas (because he is from Stockton and does that song mahvelously)

Favorite: "Baby it's cold outside"

Least favorite: Anything by Mariah Carey or Celine Dion. Celine remaking John Lennon's "Happy Christmas"? BLASPHEMY!!!

This year it's "El Burrito de Belén" as performed by Colombian singer Juanes.

Oh! I forgot...Sarah McLachlan's cover of Lennon's Happy Xmas (War is Over)is a great one though...complete with her own "Music Outreach Children's Choir" backing her up.

Check it out. The Album is Wintersong from 2006.

"2000 miles" by the Pretenders. And Frank Sinatra's entire "Christmas Songs" album. As much as I hate to admit it, I love that misogynistic bastard.

being the grinch, i'm not supposed to like christams songs. i think they are shrill and annoying. i do, however, really like vince guaraldi's, "a charlie brown christmas." mainly because it's not a departure from music i listen to regularly. to be honest, if every place played that instead of shrill christmas blasts, i might be more inclined to participate in christmas.

Anything by Frank Sinatra, A Charlie Brow Christmas and of course the Chipmunk Song! My sister and I started singing the Chipmunk song last week in the car (I was Alvin) after scoffing at a billboard for the new Chipmunk movie. I'll be home for Christmas aways makes me tear up.

I really hate Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman. Frosty just melts at the end and it bums me out. My sister told me that I was overthinking the song.
