Where were you born, and what were your parents' circumstances at the time?

I was born in Burlington, Vermont at the University's medical center. At the time of my birth my father was an air force doctor and my mother was a housewife and mother and under sedation.

Bellingham, Washington.

We were only there for a couple months, so I don't remember it and haven't ever been back (other than passing through on the freeway).

My parents were hippie-types looking for the perfect place to settle. Locations where I was almost born (because my parents tried settling during my mom's pregnancy) include: Oregon, Wyoming, Alaska and British Columbia. Not coincidentally, I think my dad ended up with a warrant for skipping bail in each place.

Middlesex Hospital, Hartford, CT. My parents had just gotten married (appproximately 8 months before my arrival... hmmmmmmm...) and were living in a shitty house in Manchester with my 4-year-old half-brother. They moved to the suburbs shortly after I was born. Just not safe having such an adorable little girl in the ghetto.

My parents were (and still are) FOBs.
My mother was about to burst but made it over to California from Tokyo because my parents wanted their child to be born in the US (so I would have dual citizenship).
My father was to become a monk, but fled the family temple to the US to become a business man. The 80's were the heyday for Japanese business men. Making the big bucks in Yen and then living in the states for nothing. Instead he worked at the equivalent to a Benihana, he is still awesome at juggling knives and flipping shrimp.

My dad was playing Jai Alai, along with his father. My mother was there because of her parents. I'm not sure exactly what they were doing in the PI. But I know it involved US embassy work and getting refugees out of Vietnam. We moved to Singapore after about 6 months.

I was born in my parents bedroom at our house in oregon. There was a mid wife and my sisters in the room. My parents already had 6 girls by the time I came along, so everyone had to share rooms and make room for me!!

my parents were living in hampton, va at the time and were on their way to a memorial day party when my mother went into labor. i think the exact time of birth was 1:48 p.m. and my dad totally went to that party later in the night.

Houston, Texas. I believe the rodeo was actually taking place right up the street.

I'm the only kid, so my parents were thrilled. They lived in a shoddy little neighborhood about 40 minutes away (where we lived for 14 more years.) In pictures from the time, my dad looked shockingly like John Lennon and played blues harmonica/guitar in a band most weekends while my mom took care of me. She's still doing this.

I was born in the Fort Bragg hospital. My mom drove there from Ukiah because she liked the doctor. I was the first and last of my mom's kids to not be born in her bedroom.

Apparently my mom told my dad she was pregs the same day my dad told my mom he was outta there. Thus began all the mental scarring/serendipity fetishes.

My dad was there when I was born though and he immediately named me after the Bob Dylan song 'Joey' and then passed out. Thats my mom's story anyway.

i was born in las vegas nevada, six months after my parents were married. I was ten days late and I came out with the cord wrapped around my neck. I had no hair until I was three years old and looked like an alien.

I was born at Ukiah General, one month early. My mom sobbed when she found out she was pregnant with me (obviously, I was an accident) because my two-year-old brother was a nightmare. She thought I was going to be a boy and she had no clothes or anything for me. I was good and my brother was bad. Some things don't change.

My dad was a journalist for Popular Mechanics and my mom stayed home. We had a two bedroom apartment in Bensonhurst, and a boxer named Turbo.

San Jose, CA (in the mid-70's, when there used to be cows and fields there).

A year or so earlier, my parents (and my sister, born in France a couple of years before me) were going to be kicked out of the U.S. Armed with two PhD's (one in computer science and the other in mathematics) from Sweden, my father had been teaching computer science to graduate students at Brown University when IBM stole him for a research and development gig in the Silicon Valley (as his work visa for the Brown gig was about to expire).

My sister almost killed me when I was a baby by stuffing cotton down my throat. My mom saved my life when she found me turning purple and blue. My sister doesn't do that to me anymore.

Boston, Massachusetts. My parents got married when my mother was six months pregnant. My father was a professor of organic chemistry and working for Polaroid and my mother was running her own small vegetarian restaurant at a racquetball club.

I get the impression that it was very cold and snowy, and my parents were partying a lot, doing the newspaper young people thing that used to exist. I have heard stories about my Mom wrapping me up in blankets while she delivered newspapers in the snow and the heater to her Volkswagon Bug was broken.

I believe the umbilical cord was wrapped pretty good round my neck and I almost died and of course, I did not.

I was born in Nashua, New Hampshire. I'm the only true New Englander in my family, though we've all lived there for the entirity of my life. My mother went into labor while she was at work. Luckily, she was working at Nashua Memorial Hospital! I find it a little wierd that she wasn't on maternity leave, but she worked at the hospital, so I guess it all worked out in the end. My father was working as a mechanic here or there. I was born a month early and my mother immediately knew I would need glasses when I got older. I was apparently not a cryer.

UCSF, here in San Francisco. My mom was a house momma with two daughters already. My dad was starting his medical practice and when I came out I'm pretty sure he said, "shit, another girl?".

CCR say it for me....
My mom wasn't showing so much, and I was her first kid, so everyone told her that I'd be late... Little did anyone know that I was meant to punctual and was determined to be born on my due date, which was on their visit to my grandparents house.. So, instead of being born in Tahoe, I was 'stuck in L-o-di'... and my sucker mom thought the people were so nice at the hospital that my sister ended up being born there too.

I was born in Ukiah Ca.. My parents had three before me and were not planning on another child. But, since my mom was a hippie, she couldn't take a clothes hanger to me so.....
My dad was smoking a lot of pot cuz my mother was realizing that she liked the neighbor more than my dad. Leaving not long after. Thats what my sisters and brother told me...

I was born January 1st, 1977 in Los Angeles, CA. I was unplanned. My mom told me she went through the worst labor with me. She was in labor for almost 24 hours. What a fun New Year's Eve she had.
